PYD: March 12, 2004, Uprising heralded Democratic Nation

Attempts on the part of the Syrian Government to obliterate the Kurdish identity and fomenting sectarian sedition between the Syrian people, were all condemned by the Democratic Union Party, the PYD, stressing that the Peoples' March 12, 2004, Uprising, paved the way for the commencement of the democratic nation idea, and the peaceful coexistence in North Eastern Syria in the face divide and rule policy.

General Council of the PYD issued today a statement in which it condemned all means exerted by the Syrian Government that fountains from the Ba'athist ideology that is being well known for it's individuality in dealing with all national issues.

'' 17 years on since the March 12^th, 2004 Uprising as an attempt by the Syrian Ba'athist Regime and a league of Ba'athist ideology supporters to foment sedition and antagonism between the Kurds and Arabs in the city of Qamishlo in a grave play to stir up components face to face in a bid to obliterate the Kurdish identity in Rojava and Syria as a whole, and making a sectarian shift and disunity between Syrian peoples that cost lives of tens of Kurds as other hundreds were arrested by the Security Branches.

''marking the 17^th annual anniversary on the March 12, 2004, Uprising, in which the Kurdish people stood up to the adopted oppression, and hoisted the torch to break the yoke of tyranny and broke the all obstructions to get it's freedom, we bow in honor and in respect to our martyrs and those of North Eastern Syria Revolution.

''on this painful anniversary we denounce and condemn with the strongest words the means adopted by the Syrian Regime that all fountain from the Ba'athist ideology that is well famous for it's individuality in dealing with all national issues, more especially in this critical phase in which Syria is being put on the altar of dismemberment by Turkey and it's mercenaries, we confirm that these repressive police-like measures never serve any democratic solution in Syria.

''we stress that the March 12, 2004, Uprising in North Eastern Syria led by the Kurdish people was a starting point to put into action the democratic nation project and peaceful coexistence between Arabs, Kurds and Syriacs to stand up to the divide and rule policies adopted by the Syrian Regime, and we confirm that solution in Syria lies in dialogue between the patriotic powers to reach democratic projects such as the Autonomous Administration that after being put into action in North Eastern Syria is viable for the whole of Syria, as an answer to the complicated Syrian Crisis''.
