Civilians in occupied villages: Mercenaries do not spare any crimes

Displaced civilians talked about the crimes of the Turkish occupation in the villages under its control, and pointed out that Turkey's occupation of cities and villages aims to commit massacres and completely destroy the region.

Since the occupation of Serêkaniyê city by the Turkish occupation and the mercenaries of the so-called "Syrian National Army", the villages under its control have witnessed almost daily crimes against the people of the region, including kidnapping, acts of banditry, theft of property and ransom demands.

Our agency held an interview with a number of forcibly displaced people from Leylan village, west of Tel Tamr district, along the M4 international road, to talk about the crimes of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries against the components of the region.

Fear of crime

Ahmed Suleiman, one of the displaced, said, "We got out of our village forcibly because of its occupation by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, and since that time, we have not been able to return, fearing for our lives."

Suleiman added, "We are talking with the people in our village and the neighboring villages, and they tell us that the mercenaries did not let any crimes go uncommitted in the village, including plundering of civilian homes, killing and many other crimes."

Theft and accusations

Suleiman, who left behind, while leaving the village, his agricultural crop for a whole year, which is estimated at 700 sacks of barley and 20 sacks of wheat said that they were stolen by mercenaries, according to witnesses from the village.

He noted that the mercenaries kidnapped his cousin, under the pretext of working with the Autonomous Administration, a period ago, and released him in exchange for a ransom estimated at one and a half million Syrian pounds.

Suleiman notes that the goal of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in occupying cities and villages in north and east Syria is to destroy the region, plunder and steal civilian property.

Torture

For his part, Salem Daham from Leylan village said, "I was in my house when the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation raided it, and they accused me of dealing with the Syrian Democratic Forces."

Daham added, "I stayed with them (five days) under torture and beatings with the aim of asking for a ransom and stealing my possessions."

In the end, I was forced to pay a ransom in order to leave, "I paid my agricultural harvest which estimated at 400 sacks of barley and 16 sacks of wheat, as a ransom for release."

Turkey and its mercenaries occupy dozens of villages and forcibly displace their inhabitants. Testimonies confirmed that the occupation robbed all villages and turned some of them into military headquarters for the mercenaries of the so-called "Syrian National Army", amid their continued attacks on the countryside of Tel Tamr and Zerkan.
