On the eighth anniversary of the assassination of the three Kurdish female strugglers (Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şeylemaz), events were organized in various cities and regions of north and east Syria, denouncing the massacre that affected these activists.

QAMISHLO

The Women's Council in North and East Syria issued a statement to public opinion, on the eighth anniversary of the martyrdom of the three female strugglers, "Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şeylemaz."

It stated: "On the eve of January 9, 2013, the French capital Paris witnessed one of the most horrific and dirtiest assassinations against three Kurdish fighters (Sakine Cansız - Leyla Şeylemaz - Fidan Doğan), the activists who devoted themselves to serving the cause of the Kurdish people and took women's liberation and struggle as a goal of their struggle. They were targeted by the Turkish entity and its fascist policies to limit their struggle for their humanitarian cause, so each one of them gained the honor of martyrdom, eternity, and turned into symbols of freedom and candles that illuminate the paths of millions of women who follow them and their paths.

The struggling comrade Sakine Cansız, known for her strong personality and her lack of acceptance of slavery and submission, the woman who shook the throne of her jailers with her smile turned into a source of strength and valor for all women, who during her ten years of imprisonment the prison walls were unable to suppress her free will, she was the best example of a free Kurdish woman.

We in the Women's Council in North and East Syria recall their struggle in the eighth anniversary of their martyrdom. We renew the covenant with them and all the peacemakers to follow their footsteps and carry the torches of freedom until women's freedom is achieved."

RAQQA

With the participation of dozens of young women in the city of Raqqa and its countryside, the Young Women Union of Raqqa organized a short film that dealt with the life stages of the three Kurdish fighters (Sakine Cansız, Fidan Doğan and Leyla Şeylemaz) who were targeted by Turkish intelligence in the French capital, Paris.

Then the Union made a statement to world public opinion, which reads: "On January 9, 2013, Turkish intelligence in Paris targeted three Kurdish revolutionaries. They were Sarah (Sakine Cansız), Rojbîn (Fidan Doğan) and Ronahi (Leyla Şeylemaz), and it was nothing but a continuation of the international conspiracy against the leader in 1999 since the comrade Sakine Cansız was one of the founders of this movement. She was known as a leading and revolutionary woman by all the women of the world and had a great influence on democratic forces and, so that she was targeted by the conspiring force."

The statement added: "The aim of this massacre is to undermine the gains of women's revolution, as well as to undermine the freedom revolution by breaking the will of free women."

The statement pointed out that the perpetration of the Paris massacre comes from the crisis of the global capitalist system, represented by the fascist Turkish state, which always seeks to extricate itself from the existing impasse by creating new crises and conspiracies.

The statement affirmed that "targeting the character of the comrade Sarah means targeting all strugglers for change and a free and decent life." It continued: "Targeting the comrade Fidan Doğan is nothing but revenge against the free Kurdish figure who refused to surrender to them and their plans," and added: "Targeting the comrade Ronahi (Leyla Şeylemaz) means targeting the free will of the youth, which refuses to be a game at the hands of the ruling and authoritarian regimes."

The statement stressed that "targeting these comrades comes within a planned and systematic program of the authoritarian male mentality." The statement called on all free strugglers and patriots from all over the world to rise up, demand justice and hold criminals accountable."

In the context of the activities condemning the Paris massacre, which affected the three Kurdish activists, "Sakine Cansız, Leyla Şeylemaz, and Fidan Doğan," the Women's Administration in Raqqa held a meeting for the city's women, in the meeting hall of the People's Municipality in the city, in the presence of more than 300 women from the city.

During the meeting, the life of the three fighters, and their role in the women's struggle for freedom were discussed.

Çil Axa

The people of Çil Axa (Agha) district took part in a massive demonstration to condemn the massacre committed against the three strugglers in Paris.

The demonstration started in front of the martyr Masoum roundabout in the middle of the district, in which the demonstrators raised banners that read: "No to occupation and extermination. Together, we protect women and life.” The demonstration took place in the public street, to stop in front of the city garage. There, several words were delivered, including  a speech by the member of the Kongra Star, Nazha Saifuddin, and a speech by the member of the Martyrs' Families Council, Kanaan Hussein, as the words commemorated the three strugglers.
