The arrest of the activist Leyla Guven by the Turkish authorities after being sentenced to 22 years in prison was widely echoed in the political and popular circles. Those circles considered the arrest of Leyla Guven a continuation of the genocidal policies pursued by the Turkish state against strugglers and opponents of the Turkish state fascism.

Dêrik citizens noted that the arrest of Leyla Guven reflects the mentality of the Turkish state which is based on denial and exclusion.

Saleh al-Sadeq said: "The Turkish fascism is afraid of Kurdish politicians, their resistance and their free thought, and the arrest of the struggler Leyla Guven is proof of that. The goal is not to arrest them physically, but intellectually and politically."

Sadeq explained that the struggler Leyla Guven is the example of a free and sacrificial woman who resists the Turkish fascist mentality, fights for the liberation of women and defends her rights for human values. He continued: "If she had defended dictatorships, she would not have been arrested by Turkish fascism."

He denounced the silence of the United Nations, the Human Rights Organization and international organizations that turn a blind eye to the practices of the occupying state.

Sadeq called on "the Kurdish people to do their duty, and to resist in the face of the Turkish occupation." He called for "all women in the world, writers and intellectuals to realize that the injustice and violations committed by Turkey are not against one nationality only, but against all of humanity."

In turn, Raghda Khalil said: "The Turkish state is trying, through the arrest of the struggler Leyla Guven, to eliminate women, end their existence, and strip their rights and freedom."

Raghda Khalil explained that the Turkish fascist state is trying to block the way for Guven's struggle and political movement, and noted: "The Turkish state is well aware that the success of the revolution begins in the person of free women."
