Arrest of Laila Guven is a hostile decision targeting Kurdish people in general

Kongra Star in Washokani camp issued a statement denouncing the prison sentence against Laila Guven, where dozens of members of Kongra Star and the Free Women Movement were present as well as the co-chair of Washokani camp Stera Rash.

The statement was read by the administrator of Kongra Star in Washokani camp, Basima Daoud.

In Ad-Darbasiyah, Kongra Star made a statement, which was read in Martyrs' Square in the district by the member of Kongra Star, Nasreen Maami attended by the women of the district.

The attendees held pictures of parliamentarian Laila Guven at the event.

The statement read:

"As we call for freedom, justice and equality, and the lifting of violence, injustice and aggression from the oppressed peoples in our regions, the occupying Turkish state and fascism sentenced the politician Laila Guven to a term of 22 years and three months in prison. This ruling sought to break the will of women and reduce their role in the resistance and the struggle for their freedom.

With the arrest of parliamentarian Laila Guven, Turkey's efforts to exterminate politicians who cling to free thought and who are fighting the politics of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), and one of the biggest indications of this is the arrest of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, who spread free democratic thought and the brotherhood of peoples.

Everyone notices that the standards of justice and the judiciary in Turkey do not comply with social and international standards, and arresting people in retaliation is an inhuman act, so judging Laila Guven is an illegal ruling and a hostile decision targeting the Kurdish people in general.

The statement called on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene and put an end to the Turkish state and its practices that pose a threat to the region and the people.
