Activists, media professionals: ENKS silence about Turkish crimes proves partnership

Despite its engagement into the Kurdish dialogue talks, ENKS policy with regard to north and east Syria shows its support for the crimes committed by Turkey and its mercenaries in the occupied areas, and its constant threats to occupy other areas, so this council's moves with the occupier and its silence about crimes confirm this, according to activists and media professionals.

Despite the continued attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on north and east Syria and the crimes they commit in the occupied areas, "Afrin, Serêkaniyê, Girê Spî," the so-called Kurdish National Council which claims to be Kurdish and plays the national chord remains silent about the Turkish attacks and crimes, and does not describe the Turkish presence as an occupation.

Unlike the Kurdish National Council affiliated with the Syrian coalition which occupies the Kurdish regions through its mercenary groups, the Western parties which have close ties with Turkey attack it for its launching attacks on north and east Syria, and condemn the crimes committed by its mercenaries.

Turkish occupation attacks threaten efforts to combat ISIS mercenaries

On the 16th of December, the leader of the Republican majority in Congress, Michael McCall, and the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the House of Representatives, Eliot Engel, criticized in a joint statement the Turkish attacks on northeastern Syria, stressing that they threaten efforts to combat ISIS mercenaries.

The US officials confirmed that the mercenary groups supported by Ankara in northern Syria are committing serious human rights violations.

While the European Parliament considered the Turkish attack on the regions of north and east Syria an invasion, according to what the European Parliament Member Hana Neumann said in a statement to our agency during her visit to the regions of north and east Syria.

Hana Neumann said: "The European Parliament has criticized from the beginning the Turkish invasion of north and east Syria, which is a clear violation of international and humanitarian law, and the Parliament to this moment calls on all member states to stop selling arms to Turkey because of its violations of international humanitarian law."

The semi-annual report of the United Nations Human Rights Council indicated that the areas occupied by Turkey, such as Afrin, Serêkaniyê, Jarablus, Idlib, and Girê Spî are witnessing "grave violations that contradict human rights."

The report documented an escalation in killings, kidnappings, involuntary transfer of people, seizure of land and property, and forced evictions, and indicated that "the violations were directed against women and children, targeting primarily Yazidis, Kurds and Christians, many of whom were subjected to ethnic cleansing in these areas."

The report also details how the Syrian mercenaries supported by Turkey "forced male detainees to witness the rape of a minor in Afrin region", in addition to forcing "more than 150,000 Kurds to flee," contributing to a demographic change similar to the ethnic cleansing that took place in the Balkans in the nineties.

Now, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries in the so-called "National Army" continue to launch attacks on Ain Issa and its villages in order to occupy other areas, and despite this, the Kurdish National Council remains silent.

Turkey relies on the Kurdish National Council of the so-called "coalition" to legitimize its occupation of Syrian lands and launch its attacks, given that this council supports the Turkish occupation project in Syrian lands through its statements.

Kurdish National Council's statements absence regarding crimes indicates their position on them

This is evidenced by the absence of statements condemning the attacks and crimes, the resort of senior officials in the National Council through their statements to legitimize the occupation and attacks, and its failure to take any serious position as one of the parties in the Syrian coalition regarding the crimes, threats and daily attacks.

Last November, the representative of the Kurdish National Council, Abdullah Keddo, appeared in videos and pictures showing his presence in the occupied city of Afrin, accompanied by a group of those who participated in the occupation of Afrin and the displacement and killing of the Kurds from it.

The Kurds believe that the silence of the Kurdish National Council regarding Turkish crimes and its mercenaries in the occupied territories stems from the support of those parties to the occupation's policy, and that the Council does not represent the Kurdish or Syrian society, and it was prepared as a tool to implement Turkish policies.

Kurdish media professional Ibrahim Ibrahim says in this context: "Far from any affiliation influences and with a vision that I perceive as logical in reading and analysis, the 10 years of the Syrian painful event have produced cases or issues that never appeared before in human history, and most of these cases are "abhorrent and disgusting" , whether those that appeared at the individual or collective level, and among them is the phenomenon of the so-called Kurdish National Council."

The Kurdish National Council is a phenomenon far from Kurdish values and poses a danger to society

Ibrahim affirmed that the Kurdish National Council "is a phenomenon far from Kurdish values," and has become a "danger" to society in its moral dimension before the political, considering that this council "was not an expression of the Kurdish or Syrian society's need, but rather an industry that took the conditions and standards of the outside world, and has been a remote control machine."

He added: "The so-called Kurdish Council does not have moral and national foundations, neither in unity nor in difference, and it is a cheap tool in the hand of the Kurdish Democratic Party, while the latter is a tribal case that has not developed and even preserved itself, as it has remained and will remain a tool in the hand of the Turkish state that resembles it."

Although the so-called Kurdish National Council held talks with the Kurdish National Unity Parties in north and east Syria and the two parties reached a unified political vision, according to officials from both sides, the Kurds' position on everything going on in the region and towards neighboring countries, including Turkey, and access to form a unified political reference have been shown, but this council still remains silent about Turkish crimes.

The two parties announced, through a joint statement on June 17th, the end of the first phase of the Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue, and indicated that the 2014 "Duhok" agreement on governance and partnership in administration, protection and defense will be a basis for continuing the dialogue and reaching a comprehensive agreement.

The Kurdish National Council is subordinate, and it is natural that we do not witness any position of the Council

In this context, the Kurdish political activist from Norway, Avin Hassen, believes during a telephone interview with our agency that the National Council is "subordinate" and not independent, and has no ability to change any decision at the internal and external levels.

She added: "Given that the Kurdish National Council facilitates Turkish policy within the coalition that represents Turkey's policy, it is natural that we do not witness any position regarding what is happening in the region by the council, even as it enters into dialogues with other Kurdish parties in the region to unify ranks because the council's relationship is basically based on personal and party interests, not in favor of the Kurds.
