Lebanese MP condemns verdict against Guven, demands her freedom

The Lebanese Armenian MP Paula Yacoubian denounced the Turkish court ruling issued against the parliamentarian, Leila Guven, and called on the free people of the world to take action to obtain her freedom from the prisons of the Erdogan government.

The Lebanese MP's statement during a visit to the “Newroz Cultural and Social Association” and met there with the head of the association and its administrators, and she recalled at first, a press conference, she had held in the association when Guven was in the prisons of the Erdogan authorities, describing that: “His record In human rights has become very frightening. "

Yacoubian said, "And now once again a woman elected by her people, was sentenced to a political ruling with distinction, and a 22-year prison sentence was issued against her for this great militant."

And she added, "We call with all the free people of the world for freedom to Mrs. Leila Guven, who represents her people and all the free people of the world, not just the Kurds."

At the end of her statement, Yacoubian thanked the Association for its interest in humanitarian issues, and said: “Because we share these issues, given that the Kurdish people with the Armenians, Syriacs, Assyrians and Greeks made great sacrifices in the struggle for their freedom, and the butcher was always the same, unfortunately.”  

After completing her statement, the head of the Association, MP Hanan Othman, thanked the Lebanese-Armenian MP Paula Yacoubian for visiting the center and solidarity with the cause of the fighter, Leila Guven.
