The day before yesterday, the Turkish authorities sentenced the Parliamentarian Leyla Guven to 22 years and 3 months in prison.

To denounce and reject that decision, dozens of members of the Kongra Star and members of the civil institutions of Afrin region gathered in Ahdath district's park in al-Shahba canton to make a statement.

The text of the statement read: "We, the Kurdish women and all the components of al-Shahba canton, stand here today to demand the world to stop the Turkish fascism which is practicing the worst kinds of injustice against the Kurdish people, their leaders, politicians, and parliamentarians elected by the people's votes, the last of which was Turkey's violation of all legal and ethical standards by issuing sentence to 22 years and 3 months in prison against the Kurdish Parliamentarian Leyla Guven on flimsy charges."

The statement added: "The whole world, European and international countries that claim freedom and democracy must take action to remove that punishment on Leyla Guven and all political detainees in Turkey, and end Turkish fascism's crimes against the Kurdish people."

While we condemn and denounce international silence and international conspiracies against the Kurdish people and their leaders, we confirm that Turkish fascism will not be able to break the will of the Kurdish people, their leader and Kurdish women parliamentarians to march towards freedom, peace and democracy, and we say to Turkey and the whole world that we are all Leyla Guven, and we will stand in the face of the Turkish occupation."

The statement concluded by lighting a torch and chanting slogans that saluted the resistance of detainees in the Turkish occupation's prisons.
