SDF leader: as fighters thwart attacks, resistance continues

One of the SDF leaders in Ain Issa Aziz Kharbisan indicated that the Turkish occupation targeted the checkpoints in Ain Issa, and that a Damascus government soldier was wounded, and confirmed that the fighters thwarted the attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, and that the resistance was continuing.

Since the early hours of the morning, the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries have launched attacks on the villages of Saida, Maalik, the M4 highway and the vicinity of Ain Issa district, with heavy weapons, warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft, the fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in turn, have responded to the attacks.

In this context, our agency conducted a meeting with the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Aziz Kharbisan.

“We thwarted the occupation attempts”

Aziz Kharbisan indicated at the beginning of his speech that the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries began the attack at 4:30 in the morning today, targeting the village of Jahaba, located 5 km from the center of Ain Issa district. Sticking to our legitimate defense, we responded to the attack and thwarted it, then, at 7:00, the occupation launched its attacks again, and this time they targeted the M4 international road and the vicinity of Ain Issa district, and the village of Saida, and the attacks targeted inhabited villages, and the people are now at risk."

Kharbisan said that despite the formation of joint observation points, the attacks escalated, adding, "During the attacks, the joint observation point located east of Ain Issa silos was targeted, and as a result a member of the Damascus government was wounded, and despite that there was no response from Russian forces and the Damascus government’s."

“Warplanes are still flying overhead”

The commander in the SDF noted that the attack on populated areas took place before the eyes of the Russian forces guaranteeing the ceasefire, and continued by saying: “Warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft are still hovering in the center of Ain Issa district and its surroundings, and we are continuing the resistance to protect the people and defend our land. ".

Kharbisan explained that the fighters thwarted all attacks and attempts to occupy the area.

Of note, Girê Spi Military Council announced on December 9 that they had agreed with the Russian forces to form 3 joint observation points in the region.
