Joint Military Observation Posts on the International M4

Military Council of the Gire Spi Canton announced on Wednesday that an agreement was reached that entails setting up joint military posts with the Russian Forces on the strategic Aleppo –Hasaka International Highway known as the M4.

It was announced by the Syrian Democratic Forces, the SDF, that an agreement was reached with the Syrian Government and Russian Forces, on Monday, that entails setting up Joint Observation Posts and to observing ceasefire.

It was stated by, Riyadh al-Khalaf, Commander of the Military Council of the Gire Spi Canton, in a press conference on Wednesday that they have reached an agreement to set up three military Joint Observation Posts in eastern and western the Ain Issa town and to the north of the town on the Aleppo – Hasaka International Highway known as the M4.

Since December 6th, 2020, Russian helicopters hover over the Ain Issa district, after two weeks of relentless bombardment by the Turkish Occupation Army on the outskirts of the Ain Issa town and the Aleppo – Hasaka International Highway known as the M4.

Outskirts of the Ain Issa district underwent in the last two weeks mortar and rocket shelling by the Turkish Occupation Forces, that was coincided with a ground offensive on the northern outskirts of the town by tens of mercenaries that was repelled by Syrian Democratic Forces, the SDF, in the first ever escalation of it's kind in 2020.

Tens of people took to the streets of the town of Ain Issa against what they called ''Russian conspiracy'' regarding the Turkish shelling, calling on the Russian Forces and the Syrian Government Forces to repel Turkish attacks.

An earlier statement by the Gire Spi Military Council lashed out at the '' silence preserved by the Russian and Syrian Forces silence on frontlines'' regarding the Turkish Occupation attacks, though the Russian Forces are a guarantor part to run security and cease fire in the region.

In compliance with the Sochi Agreement that was concluded between Russian president and Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Receb Tayyip Erdogan, on October 22^nd, 2019, Syrian Democratic Forces, the SDF, withdrew from all the border line between Syria and Turkey to the distance of at least 32 km, to deter Turkey from occupying other border areas, whose security was left for Russia and Syrian Forces.
