Political detainees of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, the PKK, and Kurdistan Woman Freedom party held at Turkish jails went on a hunger strike on November 27th, 2020, in protest to practices by the Turkish State of tightening isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan and the breaches committed against political detainees.

One of those on hunger strike is Luqman Ibraheem from the village of Girdem of the Tirbe Spiye in the Qamishlo Canton, who was detained on the charge of affiliation to the Kurdistan Workers' Party in 1993, and was transferred by Turkish authorities to the Adiman prison, and in 2007, he was transferred to the prison of Polo close to the city of Istanbul, up to date.

Human rights organizations wink at Turkish jails

In this relation, Suleiman Ibraheem, uncle to Luqman Ibraheem, says that detainees at Turkish jails are open to violations that contradict all human norms and international laws known to the world, noting that the human rights organizations wink at practices committed at the Turkish jails, and that the isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan is a hard proof to such crimes.

Families of political detainees in all parts of Kurdistan call on European countries and all human rights associations to put pressure on the Turkish State to refrain from inhumane practices against leader of the Kurdish people Abdullah Ocalan and their beloveds held at Turkish jails.

Regarding the hunger strike by the detainees, Ibraheem said that this is a corollary to what has been taking place of breaches and violations against leader Ocalan, and that the Turkish State alleges that visits are not allowed due to the Covid- 19 Pandemic outbreak, that is suspicious for the real aim is to disconnect then from the outside world.
