The people suffer severely from the siege impose by Syrian government on al-Shahba area, which is home for tens of thousands of the refugees from Afrin canton.

This government-imposed blockade is a crisis in the region, especially since the blockade is imposed on even basic materials such as food, medicine, baby formula, and fuel as well.

Residents of the region took to the streets in front of the checkpoints of the Damascus government, protesting against the government's policies against the people, after the situation became unbearable due to the lack of fuel and medicine in pharmacies, as well as the loss of basic materials from the markets.

The aim of the siege is to undermine the people's will and surrender

Regarding these policies, the co-chair vice of Afrin Canton Council, Mohammad Abdo, talked to ANHA agency that these policies are systematic, and continued by saying: “What the government forces are practicing against the displaced Afrin residing in al-Shahba canton, three years ago, aims to undermine their will and surrender.”

Mohammad Abdo said: “The people can no longer tolerate the starvation policies that are being practiced against them, and this is why they rose up, and although the elements of the Damascus government promised to facilitate the movement of basic materials and fuel, the people insisted on continuing the activities and demonstrations against the government, until their demands are met. "

And he continued by saying: "No one knows what this silence is, but despite that, the people insist on continuing to resist it, whatever the circumstances."

Abdo appealed to the international and international organizations concerned to immediately intervene to put an end to the practices of the Damascus government towards the displaced and the people of the region.
