German newspaper: Irini mission confirms suspicions with industrial images about arms smuggling to Libya

According to the information of the German newspaper, analysts from the European Union mission "Irini", which is supposed to monitor and prevent arms shipments across the Mediterranean to Libya, discovered through satellite images of the former Turkish port "Rosalina-A" in the city of Misurata, that military armored vehicles were unloaded there.

Perhaps this is what prompted the leadership of the ""Irini", mission to examine the ship. The German frigate "Hamburg" crew stopped "Rosalina - A" last Sunday at a distance of 200 kilometers north of Benghazi in the Mediterranean Sea, in order to inspect it.

However, the inspection process was halted after Ankara lodged a sharp diplomatic protest, about five hours after the operation.

But by this time, German soldiers had only checked a few of the 150 cargo containers on board, without finding weapons.

European Union diplomats see the response of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, which described the operation as illegal, and accused the German army of using force against its civilian staff, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also interfered and his talk of harassment by German soldiers, indicates that suspicions about the illegal shipment were " correct".

Last Monday, the German army confirmed that Turkey had prevented German forces working on a military mission for the European Union from inspecting a Turkish cargo ship, believed to be transporting weapons to Libya.
