Shaddadi District Council issued a statement condemning all forms of violence against women in the presence of the council members.

The statement was delivered by the co-chair of Al-Shaddadi District Council, Alaa Al-Omar.

The text of the statement read:

"The Woman is history, so do not kill history; she is life and life is impossible without a woman.

Women, today, and despite all the pressures exerted on them, are struggling to highlight their role in all areas of life, equally with men in the military and civil institutions, and this is achieved thanks to the thought and philosophy of the leader Ocalan, and we, in turn, are trying to spread this philosophy to all Syrian regions.

We strongly condemn all types of violence against women, because violence against women is one of the most widespread, persistent and destructive violations in our world today, and it remains a barrier towards achieving equality and peace as well as fulfilling women's human rights.

Therefore, our call today is to follow up on matters related to the issue of violence, and the grave violations that women have suffered and continue to suffer from. We affirm that women are no less important than men, and the world must realize that they are the basic structure of a successful society.
