Since the occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî / Tel Abyad by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, the crimes against civilians have not stopped, and the occupation has showed that the areas  enjoy safety and security and access to all the necessities of life, but many stories from there prove the opposite, and confirm that the occupied region is experiencing a security chaos, in addition to the absence of the most basic necessities of life.

50-year-old Salem Al-Shishbar, is a displaced from Serêkaniyê after the intensification of shelling and attacks of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, and targeting civilians directly. He was like hundreds of people, as a result of their belief in the narratives and stories of the occupation and its mercenaries, but he was arrested after only two days on charges of working with the autonomous administration.

Al-Shishbar was released after a year in the Turkish occupation prison inside the occupied Serêkaniyê, in exchange for signing a pledge paper that he gave in his home to the mercenaries.

He is now living in the Serêkaniyê camp with his family under difficult living conditions, due to lack of aid provided to them by organizations with the onset of the winter.

ANHA agency met with the displaced Al-Shishbar, and he narrated all that period events, and he said: “On the 25th of October 2019, I went back to Serêkaniyê to my house to bring some necessities, but I was arrested two days on charges of working with autonomous administration. "

And he added: “Serêkaniyê al-Mahalla is like a “ghost town” because of the violations and crimes that are constantly occurring in it against the people.

Brutal torture

he indicated that the majority of prisoners are from the Arab component, and there are also many women in prisons, “I was tortured by all means. I was humiliated and deprived of eating and drinking most of the time.” he said.

He continued, saying: "Because of the severity and horrific torture, many prisoners were killed by mercenaries. I saw that with my own eyes. Their charges were different, including working in communes and institutions."

“There are many mercenary factions control the prisons in Serêkaniyê, but decisions were issued by the Turkish occupation’s intelligence officers. This was clearly evidenced by my stay in the prison, and the mercenaries were asking us to provide them with information about people who were working in the Autonomous Administration, in order to steal what is left of their homes. "he noted.

Release in exchange for signature

After a full year in prison, Al-Shishbar was released by forcing him to sign a pledge according to which he gave up his house to the mercenaries, and not to enter the city of Serêkaniyê again, he said.

At the end of his speech, the displaced demanded: “The international community expels the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries from Serêkaniyê so that the people can return to it again.
