Tunisian Ennahda decides the fate of Ghannouchi today

The Shura Council of the Tunisian Ennahda Movement will hold a meeting =, Sunday, to decide the candidacy of the head of the movement, Rached Ghannouchi, to head Ennahda.

The meeting comes after 60 members out of 100 leaders in the movement demanded Ghannouchi not to run again, and they signed a petition to hold an emergency meeting of the Shura Council. The meeting will also discuss internal differences in the movement and ways to rid of them.

In recent statements, Ghannouchi indicated that he does not intend to run for the presidency of the movement during the coming period, stressing at the same time that talking about the possibility of his candidacy for the presidency of the republic is premature.

The Brotherhood's Ennahda movement in Tunisia is experiencing sharp disagreements, as the hidden conflict between the leaders of the movement has turned into public debates in front of the media, due to the division of the movement over the removal of the Tunisian Parliament Speaker, Rached Ghannouchi, from the position of chairing the party that he has held for nearly 50 years.

In addition to internal disputes, Rached Ghannouchi faces great criticism from political parties and popular unions rejecting Ghannouchi's attempts to bring Tunisia into conflicts in Turkey's favor.
