The White House statement, which the latter published on its official website, stated, “On October 14, 2019, under Executive Order 13,894, a national emergency was declared in accordance with the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (USC 1701-1706) to deal with the extraordinary threat to national security and foreign policy to the United States, which is set up by the situation in and in relation to Syria."

The statement said, "The situation in and with regard to Syria, especially the measures taken by the Turkish government in terms of launching a military attack on northeastern Syria, undermines the campaign to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria, endangers civilians, and threatens security, peace and stability in Syria, as well as it continues to pose a threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States."

"For this reason, the declared national state of emergency must continue on October 14, 2019, and remain in effect after October 14, 2020," the statement added.
