Putin and Macron call for an immediate ceasefire in Artsakh / Karabakh

The two presidents confirmed their readiness to intensify diplomatic efforts to contribute to resolving the conflict, as announced by the Kremlin, which also revealed that Putin rejected Macron's interference in the affairs of Belarus (Belarus).

The Russian presidency said in a statement that "Putin Macron called on the parties to the conflict in the Nagorno Karabakh region to a complete ceasefire, and as soon as this becomes possible, to reduce tensions and show the greatest degree of restraint."

And added that the two presidents discussed "concrete criteria for future cooperation, particularly within the framework of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe."

The Minsk group on the Nagorno Karabakh region includes Russia, France and the United States.

The two presidents expressed their "readiness" to adopt a statement to be published in the name of the joint presidency of the Minsk Group calling for an "immediate" cessation of hostilities and the start of negotiations, according to the Kremlin.

And since Sunday, violent battles have been taking place in the Nagorno Karabakh region, despite international calls for a ceasefire.
