On August 28, the Syrian Democratic Council delegation visited the Russian capital, Moscow, during which it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Popular Will Party.

The delegation included the Head of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council, Ilham Ahmed, her deputy Hikmat Habib, the Co-chair of the Syriac Union Party, Sanhrib Barsoum, and the representative of the SDC in Egypt, Sihanouk Dibo.

After the signing Memorandum of Understanding during a press conference, Ilham Ahmed and Secretary of the Popular Will Party, Qadri Jamil, a delegation from SDC and Popular Will met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

On the visit's results, Hikmat Habib, spoke to Hawar, saying: “The visit came at the invitation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, and there were continuous discussions with the People's Will Party, which culminated in a document of understanding. It was one of the most important things that was completed in the Russian capital, Moscow. "

Habib revealed, "There were misconceptions among the Russian leadership that were conveyed by some parties from the Syrian Democratic Council. We clarified during our visit, the draft of the Syrian Democratic Council and the Autonomous Administration of the North and East of Syria, and we put the Russian leadership through Mr. Lavrov in the truth of the matter of our national project that preserves the territorial integrity of Syria. "

He explained, "We focused on many points regarding the SDC project to solve the Syrian crisis, and the most important of which is that the Syrian government is open to dialogue with all Syrians except for the Syrian government or the national opposition, as well as the focus on the Turkish occupation of Syrian lands, and the Turkish attacks that are committed after the agreement were discussed. It was concluded between the Russian government and Turkey, Turkey's failure to adhere to these agreements, and its perpetration of violations against the people of the region. "

He added, "The focus was on what are the reasons for the real non-participation of the people of NE Syria in the previous political meetings, and the ways to participate in the next stage with regard to resolving the Syrian crisis."

Regarding the position of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Habib explained, "We sought seriousness about the position of the Russian government during the meetings that took place. They are more convinced that the political process will not take place without the participation of the people of northeast Syria."

He explained in this context, "The talks were very positive because we felt serious about the Russians, after they were convinced that a solution must be found to end the Syrian conflict, and the Autonomous Administration and decentralization project is a solution to the Syrian crisis, and their support for this this project. "

"In the coming days, it will become clear to us the extent of this seriousness on the ground, whether in the Syrian-Syrian dialogue or the dialogue with the Syrian government or our participation in other platforms," he added.

And Habib said that the Russian side stressed that the military operations must end, and the need to focus on dialogue between the various forces and political parties, and that Russia wants to end the conflict in Syria, and that they focus at the current stage on reaching political understandings.

He concluded his speech by saying, "We are waiting for the coming days to support dialogue between the two parties. We are also waiting for Russia to discuss with Turkey about its threats to the region and the violations it commits in northern and eastern Syria."
