The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) confirmed that the mercenaries loyal to Turkey are intensifying their search for hidden archaeological sites in the Afrin region, after excavating and bulldozing archaeological hills and known religious shrines.

According to the Observatory, the mercenaries are trying to inquire about these sites from the elderly people of the region, by intimidating them, sometimes by intimidating them and by giving them a percentage of what comes out of finds and artifacts, and this is done under the sight of the Turkish intelligence that facilitates their work.

The Syrian Observatory had monitored, during the past months, that the mercenaries loyal to Turkey were continuing the work of excavation for antiquities, digging and sabotaging religious shrines, in search of archaeological artifacts in Afrin, where they bulldozed and randomly dug the “Aranda Archaeological” hill located in “Sheikh Hadid” district in Afrin's western countryside.

In a relevant concern, the shrine of “Sheikh Hamid” in the village of Qastal Jundu, which belongs to the Sharran district in Afrin countryside, also witnessed excavation and sabotage work, and is considered one of the historical monuments of the Afrin region.
