Pentagon deploys additional forces to counter protests

The Pentagon announced on Tuesday the deployment of forces in several states to counter violent protests against the killing of George Floyd, an African American citizen, last week by a Minneapolis police officer, which included some riots, cracking and looting of shops.

A senior U.S. official said the National Guard announced the transfer of additional security personnel to Washington.

On the other hand, the mayor of New York declared on Tuesday that the curfew announced in the city after violent demonstrations and thefts will remain in effect until Sunday, June 7th.

Bill de Palacio said that the curfew will be in effect from Tuesday from 20:00 to 5:00, after its implementation would begin at 23:00.

Earlier today, the U.S. authorities reported that four policemen were wounded by gunfire after the St. Louis protests which started peacefully on Monday and then turned violent overnight, as the protesters smashed windows, robbed company acquisitions, and set fires in the city center.
