Human rights organizations must intervene to know Ocalan's situation

The Corona epidemic swept across the world, claimed the lives of thousands of people, so the world took precautions to confront the virus.

Among the countries most affected by the Corona virus is Turkey, but its authorities have not taken the necessary measures to prevent it, which has opened the way for its spread further, posing danger to prisons after several cases emerged within them.

The member of the Kongra Star Coordination in the Euphrates region Rawshan Hajem said: "This stage is dangerous and sensitive due to the Corona virus that has invaded the world. Turkey is among the most affected countries and has not stated that yet nor taken any measures to protect its people and detainees in prisons."

She pointed out that the life of those detainees is at risk, as there are about a million detainees in its prisons. Furthermore, it is known that the Turkish detention centers suffer from great pollution and lack of health measures inside them.

Rawshen pointed out that most of the detainees in the Turkish prisons are Kurds and politicians.

Rawshen stated that a week ago, the Turkish state issued a decision to release the political prisoners, but this release did not include the Kurds.

Rawshen expressed her concerns about the situation of the leader Abdullah Ocalan who has been detained since 21 years, and said: "Despite this sensitive situation the world is going through, Turkey still prevents the leader's lawyers and family from visiting him and making sure of his health status, and this causes concern."

In conclusion, Rawshen appealed to humanitarian and human rights organizations to intervene and put pressure on Turkey to allow the leader Ocalan's lawyers, family and doctors to visit him and find out his health status.
