The fears of the prisoners  families in Turkish prisons have increased after recording COVID-19 deaths in prisons and they have called on international organizations to pressure the Turkish government to release.

The Turkish authorities  issued on Monday (April 13th) a bill for releasing more than 90,000 detainees  in a step to curb the new outbreak of Coved-19 in prisons.

 The law allows releasing the convicted in criminal cases only without addressing the fate of political, media and opposition activists in prisons.

 Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International condemned the bill that excludes the journalists, political opponents and lawyers, calling on the Turkish government to take its decisions seriously.  

According to the Turkish Justice Minister,  Abdulhamid Gul on Sunday, three prisoners lost their lives of Coronavirus, while 13 others were infected 

Hawar News Agency met with Sanjo family in the north and east of Syria, whose son, Idris Sanjo, has been detained by Turkey since 1996 in Mardin, Bakûr of Kurdistan on political charges of belonging to a " terrorist organization".

Sanjo is the eldest in his family. His father is Abdul Rahman Sanjo and mother is Ghazal that has six brothers and 5 sisters. He involved in the political activity in 1991 and was arrested in Turkey's Malatya.

The Turkish government has been detaining Sanjo for 24 years. According to his family, the Turkish authorities have transferred him to Al-Bustan prison in Qahman Marsh. Idris  has blood pressure, diabetes and asthma, his brother Kamran Sango confirmed.

He said that the family's fears increased after the outbreak of the coronavirus in Turkish prisons , especially since Idris has respiratory diseases since his detention in Turkey."

"The Turkish government seeks to release some members of parties close to the PJD,  criminal prisoners but it ignore the political detainees for purposes that serve the ruling party (Justice and Development Party)," Sanjo said.

He appealed to international human rights organizations and UN organizations to move and pressure the Turkish authorities  for releasing the politicians  detainees.

He also called on them to take responsibility for thousands of political prisoners in Turkish prisons.

 It is also noteworthy that the Turkish authorities have released one of the country's biggest mafia men, Aladdin Kaskisi. He of the biggest money launderers in Turkey, after 16 years in Ankara prison, under the pretext of easing prison overcrowding. Despite appeals from international organizations, the Turkish government has not taken any step towards the release of political prisoners.
