Turkish Defense confirms 5 Turkish soldiers killed by regime forces’ shelling

The news agency "Reuters" quoted the Turkish Defense Ministry as confirming the killing of 5 Turkish soldiers at a regime forces attack on Taftanaz Airport in Idlib countryside, adding that the Turkish forces responded to the attack.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights had reported that missile strikes were carried out by the regime forces on areas in and around Taftanaz military airport, in which Turkish forces and its mercenary groups are present.

According to the observatory, the shelling caused deaths and injuries, including Turkish soldiers, and Turkish ambulances were seen carrying injured people into Turkish territory.

In a related context, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Turkey had asked its mercenaries to stop attacks on the positions of the regime forces until consultations with the Russian delegation end, which returned today to Turkey.

Mercenary groups, with direct Turkish support, started this morning with artillery preparation amid Turkish talk of an operation against regime forces.
