On the second day of the 16th International Kurdish The European Parliament hosted by the European Parliament, the Turkish invasion and its relation with ISIS terrorist mercenaries have been dicussed.

The first session of the second day was moderated by Evin Incir from the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, as the Turkish invasion into north and east Syria / Rojava was discussed at the first place in addition to evaluating the general situation in the Middle East.

Incir pointed out the international silence on the Turkish invasion of Rojava and the ethnic cleansing in the region, and stressed the importance of conferences of this kind in terms of putting pressure on the EU and member countries.

Turkey’s expansionist aspirations

On the first day, the researcher Kirmanc Gundi of the Tennessee State University in the US spoke about Turkey’s expansionist aspirations. Gundi said that Erdogan regime has succeeded in growing Turkey outward and is possessed by an Ottoman Empire dream as he speaks of annexing the former Ottoman territories to Turkey. Gundi added: “This process is taking place in three stages; aid, investment and military intervention.”

The racist constitution of Turkey must be changed first

According to Gund, Turkey has persistently ignored the fact that the world is changing and failed to accept the fact that the Ottoman Empire is a history, and that Turkey is a mosaic but it has continued to experience various conflicts both inside and outside the country because of its racist attitude and language.

Gundi pointed out that the racist constitution of Turkey must change in the first place and represent all ethnic identities in order for the achievement of a change. For this to take place, the hypocrisy of the West should come to an end. If the West did not approve this aggressive attitude of Turkey, things would not have come to this point. Action must be taken urgently in order for this expansionist policy to end.

Sondergaard: Kurdish issue can be achieved through the democratization of the region

Soren Sondergaard of the Red-Green Alliance, Denmark provided analyses and valuations on the Kurds’ issue: “Are the Kurds are like Gordion knot or central key?” Remarking the imperialist powers that do not want the resolution of the questions in the region, Sondergaard said: “Solution cannot be achieved except with the change of the geographic structure,” noting that the solution would bring peace to the entire region.

He added: “The progressive advance of the Kurdish movement should be protected. The idea of democratic confederalism should be supported and the war against Rojava should be stopped.”

Chaibi: France and EU owe the Kurds

Leila Chaibi of the European United Left/Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) said that the Turkish invasion was met with great reactions from France, but limited to only voicing verbal reactions.

Chaibi said: “We know that the attacks that targeted France were planned in Syria by ISIS. There would have taken place more attacks if it wasn’t for the struggle of the Kurds in Rojava who paid the greatest price. We as France and EU owe the Kurds in many aspects.”

Çetin: ISIS developed in authorities square backed by Europe

The Kurdish journalist Ferda Çetin from Belgium said: “The Kurdish people do not receive the support they deserve.” He pointed to the lack of practical support in international arena.

Çetin said ISIS still constitutes a danger as there are dozens of ISIS members all around the world today.

Çetin concluded his speech noting that it was the Western countries that provided support to the regimes that produced ISIS, and he said, “Whoever knows ISIS well and knows the Middle East fully realizes that the region needs a local movement to confront and fight ISIS, while ISIS is a paradise in the other world. There is a movement that has a project that makes paradise in the Middle East in this world, it is the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The Western countries negotiate with al-Qaeda and the Taliban and put (PKK) on the list of terrorism, and the US President Trump says that the PKK is more dangerous than ISIS. It is simply a struggle among the regimes.
