Mines and improvised explosive devices of all kinds are the biggest threats to the lives of civilians and military personnel in Raqqa, which were liberated by SDF in October 2017.

Geometric shapes, bodies and different weights of ISIS mines left in the streets and homes of the city of al-Raqqa, which were dominated by mercenaries during a period of occupation that lasted about 4 years.

These mines caused the martyrdom of hundreds of the city's residents, and according to the statistics of the Office of Special Needs, 70% of the war casualties are the cause of the mines and the improvised explosive devices that ISIS planted.

The Demining Team of the Internal Security Forces in al-Raqqa, with its simple tools, was able to remove more than 18 thousand mines, an explosive device, and a shell, which were planted accurately, by experts and ISIS mine engineers.

"Today, as teams of demining in al-Raqqa, we are doing our utmost to remove the people of al-Raqqa," said Akef Mohamed, an administrator in Demining team of the Internal Security Forces in al-Raqqa.

We have cleared mines from homes and farmland, and have secured private and public facilities in the city of al-Raqqa and its countryside. "

"The number of mines and criminal devices left by ISIS is approximately 18,379, between mines and improvised explosive devices, all of which were a threat to the people in the city of al-Raqqa," Muhammad said.

The administrator asserted that "the work of demining team continues in al-Raqqa and its countryside, so any report from the people of al-Raqqa about the presence of a strange object in a house or in the neighborhood rushes to dismantle it by the team."
