DAA for Al Jazeera region discusses means of developing management

During the annual meeting, the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) for Al Jazeera region, discussed how to intensify the efforts to deter attacks on the region, counter the challenges, and work continuously to activate and develop the bodies and offices of the Democratic Administration, bridge the existing gaps and shortcomings, and work on a good strategy for 2020, strengthening their work to serve the people’s interests better.

The Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration for Al Jazeera region continued its annual meeting on its second day on Sunday. It was held at Amuda District Council’s hall to discuss the most significant jobs carried out in the region during 2019, in addition to the shortcomings that appeared in 2019 to be avoided in 2020, the new year.

The Co-heads of the Executive Council, Talaat Younis and Nazira Gawria as well as the Co-heads of the Legislative Council in the region, Hussein Azam and Aria Mulla Ahmed, the advisor of the Autonomous Administration, Dilber Yousef, the co-chairs for the bodies of the Autonomous Administration which mount 10 bodies and the co-chairs of the offices of the Administration which mount 7 offices attended the meeting.

During the meeting , the light was shed on the jobs and activities which were carried out by the bodies and offices of the Autonomous Administration in both of al-Hasakah and Qamishlo cantons in 2019.

Nazira Gewria, the Co-head of the Executive Council in the Democratic Autonomous Administration for Al Jazeera region explained in a statement to our agency, “2019 has been a year full of natural accidents starting from floods and fires that broke out in the people crops of the region in a planned way for breaking the people's will and their economy. The aggressive plans such as the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries’ attack on our areas, which are still under threat after they occupied Afrin.”

Gewria added, “Despite all of this, the Autonomous Administration is still steadfast and face all the plans that aim at breaking the will of the peoples of the region and our democratic project achieved thanks to the blood of the martyrs and Syrian Democratic Forces' struggle, and the solidarity of all of the region’s components together against the enemy.”

Nazira Gewria explained that during the annual meeting, they had discussed how to intensify efforts to deter attacks on the region, face the challenges, work continuously to activate and develop the Democratic Autonomous Administration, governing bodies and offices, to close the existing gaps and shortcomings, and work to put a good strategy for 2020 and strengthen their work to serve the peoples' interests better.

As for the most significant obstacles and difficulties that faced the Democratic Autonomous Administration during 2019, Nazira Gewria explained that north and east Syria areas were a safe haven for thousands of families from different Syrian regions, and the Administration provided them with all the supplies, following the terrorist attacks. The Administration burden has been doubled by the displacement of thousands from Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî cities and the suspension of the international organizations within the region.

She said, “We have opened two camps, Washokani camp in al-Hasakah Canton, and a camp in Girê Spî to house the displaced families, and provide them with the needs we have, and there is still a need for a lot because the camps are new, and we are in the winter; moreover, the international organizations have suspended their work and left their jobs while thousands of civilians are in tragic situations.”
