AA demands UN to form committee to investigate in crimes, rejecting re-settlement citizens  

The Department of External Relations of the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria held a press conference at its headquarters in Qamishlo about the demographic change that will occur as a result of the resettlement of mercenary families in Serêkaniyê and Tal-Abyed in cooperation with the assistance of the United Nations. The Department of Relations stressed that the silence of the United Nations and its cooperation with Turkey does not serve the Syria's future and does not serve the role of the United Nations in achieving peace and security, and stressed that what is happening are war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The statement was delivered by the co-chair of the External Relations Office of the Autonomous Administration in Northern and Eastern Syria Abdul Karim Omar.

The statement read:

 “International law defines forced displacement as the unlawful eviction of a group of individuals and residents from the land on which they reside and enters within the scope of war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity.

According to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC), deportation of the population or the forced relocation of the population, as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population, constitutes a crime against humanity.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 prohibits the forced or mass transfer of persons, or exiles from their areas of residence to other lands, unless this is in their interest in order to avoid the risk of armed conflict.

After the Turkish state occupied our areas between  Ras al-Ain toTel Abyad, and after forcibly displaced more than 300 thousand civilians from their cities, villages and towns and destroyed houses, hospitals and infrastructure, it is now trying to bring in and resettle non-mentioned residents in coordination with The United Nations aims to achieve purely political objectives, aimed at changing the identity of the region by various means and demographic change under the pretext of repatriating refugees.

We are in the circle of Foreign Relations in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, while we absolutely reject these policies and these Turkish racist trends, we appeal to world public opinion to act to prevent this catastrophe against the people and inhabitants of the region, which will open the doors to national and community conflicts we need, as well as We also ask the United Nations to ignore the study of the Turkish State's proposal to settle the families of mercenaries in our regions and to form a fact-finding committee to learn about the practices of Turkey and its mercenaries and the situation of forcibly displaced persons. As a result of the Turkish aggression, as well as documenting abuses, violations and field executions against unarmed civilians, and work to prevent this Turkish project, which will damage the region and cause further instability As for the solution of the issue of millions of refugees displaced outside Syria, the United Nations and the actors in Syria can return them to their areas In all Syria after creating the atmosphere and securing stability in it, knowing that the AA has always stressed that it is ready to cooperate in this area, provided that the file under the management and supervision of the United Nations to achieve stability and ensure the return of the people to It also obstructs the way of changing the identity of the regions and their demographic and societal structure, preserves the existing diversity and supports the efforts of co-existence, contrary to what happened and still in the occupied Afrin after the Kurds made up more than 97% of the population, now their percentage less than 25%, this is dangerous not to mention the resettlement operations carried out by mercenaries and their families who are wanted internationally for war crimes, some of them non-Syrians, and this supports the efforts of ISIS and terrorist organizations to receive and settle terrorism from abroad to Syria.

The silence of the United Nations over these practices encourages Turkey to continue its aggression and racist projects, and this will not serve the future of Syria and will not serve the role of the United Nations in achieving peace and security. We continue to hope that the international institutions, especially the United Nations, will condemn this aggression and pressurize Turkey to withdraw from the territories it has occupied and to stop these unethical and illegal abuses that are totally incompatible with all international charters and covenants.
