Damascus responds to Trump's recognition of Israel's sovereignty over Golan

"In violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations and Security Council resolutions, US President Donald Trump signed a resolution recognizing the Israeli occupation authority over the occupied Syrian Arab Golan," the official SANA news agency quoted an official source as saying.

The source added that Trump's decision was "a blatant attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic" and that "it represents the highest degree of contempt for international legitimacy and a disgraceful slap to the international community and the United Nations is losing its standing and credibility."

The source added, "Trump does not have the right and the legal capacity to legitimize the occupation and the rape of the territory of others by force. This American aggressive policy makes the region and the world vulnerable to all dangers and devotes an approach to international relations that makes peace, stability and security in the world in the wind."

The source noted, "The liberation of the Golan by all available means and its return to the motherland is an inalienable right."

"The Syrians on the whole of the country confirm their solidarity with our steadfast resistance people in the occupied Syrian Golan and share their determination to defeat aggression and liberate the Golan," the source added.
