In spirit of responsibility , organization, people of Afrin participated in resistance

The determination of the people of Afrin and the fighters to protect their homeland in front of the arsenal of the enemy, their resistance entered the history, because they resisted the occupation and martyred and refused to leave their homeland preferring the martyrdom.

The citizen Idris Weqas, a resident of Janders area of Afrin canton, resisted in his area within 44 days, as a witness to the solidarity of the people and the fighters in the resistance together in his area.

The strength of the people was stronger than the enemy's arsenal

Idris starts talking about the determination and will of the parents to choose the resistance:

" Afrin canton was the only region that lives in a state of security and peace, and receives displaced people and refugees from all regions in Syria and Iraq, as opposed to all other areas where the people were fleeing as a result of wars and practices and violations of the Turkish occupation and mercenaries of IS and others. In Afrin, a democratic system was established, in which all segments of society lived in equality and brotherhood. But the Turkish occupation did not like that democratic system based on the democratic nation and rooted in Afrin, and thus fabricated the false arguments and started its brutal attacks on Afrin and began a war of extermination against the Afrin people. There were no forces stands in the face of raids by the Turkish occupation planes and military arsenal only the strength of the fighters of YPG and YPJ and the will of the people who support their fighters, that force stemmed from the sacrifices of the martyrs .

Idris says that the area of Janders was bombed on a daily basis "since January 20, where the attacks began the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries on Afrin there was shelling on a daily basis, every day there were dozens of missiles fall on the area of Janders but there were heroic fighters of YPG and YPJ who showed a great resistance with light arms in front of these sophisticated and heavy weapons."

Idris recites excerpts of their resistance as civilians during the Resistance of the Age, noting that thousands of parents refused to leave Janders and remained steadfast until the end, and carried the duty to defend Afrin each according to his potential and his way of resistance, some of them were helping and treating the wounded and some were providing food and some of them were guarding their area with their light weapons.

Idris said that as a result of the intensity of the shelling, no civilians were able to move outside. A number of civilians were martyred while seeking to bring food and water for the people who hid in the cellars and shelters.

Idris said at the end of his speech: "The people did not hide from the occupier, but challenged them, the communes proved its ability to work at that stage and did its work to the fullest and served the people to the end."
