Religious scholars: Turkey wants to strike social, cultural fabric of Syrian people

Denouncing and rejecting reactions to the Turkish government's threats have increased. The religious scholars expressed their rejection of the Turkish occupation and pointed out that the Syrian people are friendly people, and the threats reinforce their solidarity to stand up to any aggression on their land.

A member of the Religious Scholars' Union Sheikh Abu Anwar al-Qadri said in an interview held by ANHA with him, "All of us with all our components are the people of this land and live under one roof. This is the peoples' fraternity that bring us together and form a beautiful mosaic painting."

Al-Qadri pointed out that Turkey's goal is to strike at the social and cultural fabric of the Syrian people and to target co-existence among them. He added that this is a threat to achieve the Turkish interests and expansionist ambitions in Syria.

Sheikh Abu Anwar also said, "All of us will defend and fight any enemy trying to occupy our land and our people. We defend our homeland and do not attack anyone like the Turkish occupation state that claims Islam and commits massacres against the people in Syria."

 For his part, the member of the Union of Religious Scholars Mullah Rashid Jeloud said, "We condemn these threats to the north and east of Syria and call upon all communities and components to stand together against the Turkish threats. We tell them that we, the people of Syria, do not accept any aggression on our land."

He added, "No one can separate the Syrian people because we are united and work to protect our land. These threats increase the coherence of the components and their insistence on confronting them."
