Ilham Ahmed: Turkey seeks to control sources of Syrian wealth

The speech of the co-chair of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) Ilham Ahmed came during a speech she delivered during her participation in the sit-in tent which was erected in Girê Spî city, rejecting and denouncing the Turkish threats and confirming the resistance option against them.

The sit-in activity took place in Girê Spî on its 20th day, and hundreds of people are taking part in the event along with the members and administratives of Girê Spî Canton Council and its committees in the districts and towns.

Ilham Ahmed said in her speech during her participation in the sit-in activity that the Turkish President Erdogan heads terrorism in the Middle East, and she added, "The US decision to withdraw from Syria was a surprise, and that motivated the states to review their political accounts. Erdogan demanded Russia the green light to launch an attack against northern and eastern Syria."

The co-chair of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council Ilham Ahmed pointed out, "Erdogan is invading the Syrian territories under religious names and expressions as he believes that in the name of religion, he can overcome the ideas of this people as the people have a strong adherence to religion, but we see that he committed the most heinous massacres against the Islamic nation in front of the eyes of the world."

Ilham Ahmed explained that Erdogan wants to falsify the facts to taint the public opinion to win the Turkish upcoming elections which he may lose them.

Ilham talked about their visit to France and said, "We have asked France to impose an air embargo on our areas and to carry out its responsibilities towards the Turkish threats against the north and east of Syria. The French administration has confirmed that it will meet all the demands we have demanded them."

As for the dialogues and negotiations with the Syrian regime, Ilham Ahmed said, "Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, we have not fought any side. We defended ourselves and did not ask for the division of the Syrian territories. On the contrary, we maintained its unity. Today, we do not refuse to negotiate with the regime or any other forces to preserve the security and safety of our gains that we have achieved thanks to the sacrifices of our people."

At the end of her speech, Ilham Ahmed hoped that security and peace would prevail in Syria and that the new year would be the year of victories.

Then, several speeches were given, stressing the steadfastness in the face of the Turkish threats and the rejection of any form of occupation of the Syrian territories.

At the end of the gathering, the attendees watched the process of drawing the Kurdish struggler Sakina Jansis by the painter Picasso al-Arab.
