MSD: Arresting IS' prisoners may not be continued if an attack launched

The co-chair of the Executive Body of the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD), Elham Ahmed, said on Friday, "The Syrian Democratic Forces in northern Syria may not be able to continue arresting IS' prisoners if the situation in the region comes out of control."

The officials of MSD of Syria held a press conference on Friday in Paris in conjunction with a visit to the French capital to discuss the Turkish threats and ways of cooperation between France and MSD to ensure the security and stability of the areas of northern and eastern Syria.

The co-chair of MSD, Riyad Derar, said that any Turkish attack would allow extremist factions to spread again as they receive Turkish support.

While Elham Ahmed said that any Turkish attack would force the Syrian Democratic Forces to withdraw from battlefields in Deir ez-Zor to protect the border, facing the Turkish attacks, as thousands of IS mercenaries are still besieged in that area.

Elham Ahmed called on the member of the European Union to use its influence to impose an air embargo on northern and eastern Syria.

The French Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parley, described the US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw his forces from Syria as a "dangerous decision."

For his part, the French Ambassador to the United Nations, François Delattre, told the Council earlier that it is important for the United States to take into account the protection of people in northeastern Syria and the stability of this region to avoid any new humanitarian tragedy or any return of IS terrorism."

The French envoy to UN François Delattre said, "The war is not over", warning that tensions on the ground could provide an opportunity for terrorists.
