Society protection is one of democratic nation principles in Rojava

A peaceful revolution began in Syria and was derailed with the emergence of armed formations supported by regional and international countries, resulting in the killing and displacement of civilians in many Syrian areas.

In north and east of Syria, the people organized themselves by forming civil and military institutions to protect the gains of the revolution and the property of the people.

The Society Protection Forces were established from all members of society and all ages. The people started to organize themselves within these forces and join them to protect their areas in all cities and towns. They played a leading role in protecting cities and society and were able to protect their cities.

They became a cohesive community force after their first conference in Rumailan early in 2015 and officially announced the establishment of the Society Protection Forces to protect towns and villages.

The task of these forces is to support the People and Women Protection Units YPG/ YPJ and the Internal Security Forces and to protect the areas and villages in coordination with the Internal Security Forces.

The administrator of the Society Protection Forces in Derik, Shirin Farho said "After the establishment of the Society Protection Forces center, the women of Derik initiated to establish a special center for women.

Shirin stressed that the aim of these forces is to train society in general and women in particular to use weapons and defend themselves in case of any emergency.

"The training of society in all fields is our goal, we will devote all our efforts to protect the people from any danger internally or abroad, our forces protect all activities from demonstrations, ceremonies and others."

Self-protection is the basis of the revolution and we appealed to all the components of the region to join these forces, "especially in light of the conditions in our regions."
