Al-Jazeera intellectuals: Başûr Government must immediately reverse its decision

Asayiş Forces of Sulaymaniyah of Başûr, "Southern Kurdistan", closed the offices of the Democratic Society Freedom Movement by a decision issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government of Başûr. In this context, the Union of Intellectuals in al-Jazeera Region issued a statement today and condemned the closure of the Freedom Movement offices.

The statement was read by the co-chair of the Union of intellectuals in al-Jazeera Leyla Ibrahim, in which she said, "Recently, the authorities of Başûr Kurdistan illegally, and away from the values and demands of the Kurdish people closed the offices of Kurdish Society Freedom Movement, and this decision serves the Turkish state fascist, the government Başûr Kurdistan, has no position on the bases of the Turkish occupation located in Başûr Kurdistan, but unfortunately the government of Başûr Kurdistan, at the request of the Turkish state is targeting the institutions of the Kurdish people in Başûr.

During the statement intellectuals of al-Jazeera region condemned government of Başûr Kurdistan, and said," The Kurdistan Regional Government of Başûr must reverse its decision immediately and must not work according to the interests of the enemies of the Kurdish people, and not serve the interests of the Turkish occupation."

At the end of the statement, the Union of Intellectuals called on all civil and social institutions in the four parts of Kurdistan, political parties and politicians in Başûr Kurdistan and said "All Kurdish institutions must carry out their historic duty and must strive to hold the Kurdistan National Congress."
