The Syrian-Syrian dialogue continues with the discussion of the third axis, entitled "Mechanism of Uniting the Syrian Opposition," in which Mr. Khalil delivered a lecture containing the most important points of disagreement and some principles that must be understood. During the discussions, the visions and points of understanding and disagreement between the participants were presented.

The participants in the dialogue considered that the axis of unification of the Syrian opposition is one of the most important axes to be discussed and exchange of views to find mechanisms to bring closer the divergent views and unite the Syrian democratic opposition.

The participants in the dialogue identified some important points on the definition of some outline to find common ground between the Syrian opposition.

The participants identified the points of consensus that were discussed during the first and second days of the forum: emphasizing the unity of the Syrian territories, belonging to the Syrian identity, rejecting foreign interests over the Syrian national interest, rejecting demographic change and forcible displacement on all Syrian lands and releasing all opinion detainees, building a pluralistic democratic system of decentralization.”

The participants in the dialogue called for strengthening the common points between the democratic opposition forces after the correct and deep understanding of the Syrian situation and the causes of the crisis, pointing out that there are those who believe that the crisis stems from the authority of tyranny. Some say that the origin is economic and others attribute it to sectarian reasons.

The meeting agreed that all these issues were part of the causes of the outbreak of the crisis and a historical reading of the Syrian situation must be understood correctly.

The participants in the dialogue stressed that the Syrian land is not the property or monopoly of a component without the other. On this land, many civilizations succeeded one another and every authority tried to eliminate the other identities, which made the seeds of the crisis rooted in the structure of Syrian society since ancient times.

The participants at the forum also identified the differences between the forces and parties that participated in the Syrian-Syrian dialogue, including: the position of the countries involved in the Syrian situation, the regime and its form, the conditional dialogues as an obstacle, the mechanisms of representing the democratic opposition in a single structure.

They stressed during the debate on the third item on the second day of the dialogue on the need to disengage from external agendas and projects which directly or indirectly aim to consolidate the rift in the structure of Syrian society and create a state of ethnic, religious, sectarian and social division. As well as fighting exclusionary and extremist thought and spreading the culture of peace instead of a culture of hatred, grudge and diminution.

They agreed that the most important aspect of the political and social reconstruction of Syria stems from the Syrian-Syrian solution, which is devised by the Syrians voluntarily, away from regional and international disputes, taking into account the diversity of society and the reasons for the current conflict and division.

It was also agreed that the Syrian-Syrian dialogue should be expanded to represent the largest number of secular national and democratic forces and movements in order to create the appropriate political and societal ground for a comprehensive national conference.
