Al-Raqqa Civil Council held today the first meeting of the humanitarian organizations working in al- Raqqa to discuss the service and life issues and the solutions that the organizations can set to avoid problems and difficulties.

The first meeting of all international organizations working in al- Raqqa was held today by al-Raqqa Civil Council to discuss the service and life issues in al-Raqqa and its countryside and what are the problems facing and obstructing the work of the relief organizations in the neighborhoods where the relief is distributed and discussing the service aspect.

The meeting began with holding a minute of silence. The head of the Energy and Communications Committee of the Civil Council, Shirko Mohammed, spoke about the work done by the committee, pointing to the need of the electricity sector to the support of relief organizations, especially as the city's facilities were damaged during the occupation of IS mercenaries.

For his part, the head of the Agriculture and Irrigation Committee, Mohamed Wisso, called for the provision of fertilizers and improved seeds. He also called on the organizations working in al-Raqqa and its villages to increase cooperation and coordination with the committee to develop the agricultural reality in the region.

In turn, the head of the Water Department in al-Raqqa Jassem Al-Khalaf said that drinking and irrigation water is covering two-thirds of the city and the countryside. He pointed out that the drinking water pipe network is outdated and is subject to breakdowns. He called on the organizations to change these networks even partially, especially in places that were destroyed.

The Head of the organizations in al-Raqqa Civil Council, Abdel Salam Hamm Surk, urged the organizations to focus on the rehabilitation of schools as the winter comes, and memorandums of understanding concerning the restoration of some schools was signed.

Hamm Surk added, "We also focused on the health side and enhancing al-Raqqa Hospital to rehabilitate the Kidney Department in cooperation with al-Raqqa Civil Council and rehabilitate sewage and water networks. We hope that the organizations will increase support in basic services in al-Raqqa city."

The participants agreed to do more work and cooperate with the committees of al-Raqqa Civil Council in matters of service and living that relate to the lives of the people of al-Raqqa and its countryside.
