PYD: State Department's decision against 3 PKK leaders lacks objectivity

This came in a statement issued by the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD).

"The US State Department recently issued a resolution against three leaders of the PKK, at a time when the solution of the Kurdish issue appears to be an urgent necessity and serves as the key to security and stability throughout the Middle East, where the concepts of coexistence, brotherhood and unity are at stake because of the imposition of totalitarian regimes and the practice of various methods of repression against the will of the people, and the emergence of these regimes along with terrorism and being supportive of terrorist organizations in one way or another.

We at the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) see at the beginning that this decision is a political one that lacks objectivity and the legal and social aspect. And we consider that the time it was issued comes to serve the hate speech and culture of destruction and the documented support provided by Ankara to terrorism in its various organizations, whether Daesh, al-Nusra, Huras al-Din and Turkmenisti and other different labels which were mobilized and trained and directed to Syria with the instructions of Ankara and its officials.

In addition, this American decision places America in a paradoxical position, be it in Şengal, where the PKK strongly resisted terrorism and maintained the lives of tens of thousands of civilians, or in Hewler, Kirkuk, or Kobani where Kurdistan Workers' Party had a major role in breaking Daesh back, as well as for the People and Women Protection Units supported by the international coalition led by America against terrorism.

It is certain that the existence of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) as the Kurdistan freedom movement was mainly aimed at finding a just solution to the Kurdish issue. If the United States of America had the leading position in global politics and its presence today in the Middle East as engaged in the objectives of combating terrorism and creating a secure and stable atmosphere and solving the crises of the Middle East, in the case of the Syrian crisis, we see that the US State Department's statement does not come as a compromise, but rather leads to additional repercussions and complications to the basically dangerous situation. It pushed the things that must be solved in the wrong direction. It gives Ankara the pretext that it demands to commit further aggression against the peoples of the region basically the Kurdish people and increase the escalation and melting and genocide policies against them, and more support for terrorist organizations that have proven for seven past years that they are two faces for one coin. Such a decision also has negative implications for the fight against terrorism.

We also call upon the United States of America and others to shoulder their responsibilities by pressuring Ankara, achieving peace in Turkey and activating the path of peace that has been stalled for more than three years because of the intransigence of the Turkish regime and its hostile positions, and we believe that any decision aimed at the Kurdistan Workers’ means targeting the Kurdish issue and the will of the people of Kurdistan.

As a party striving to achieve the democratic and Kurdish issues in Syria, we call upon all Kurdish and national democratic parties in Syria, Kurdistan, the entire democratic Middle East and the world, and all civil society organizations and organizations concerned with human rights to work and the joint struggle to find a just and honorable solution to the Kurdish issue to take the responsible position and stop the attack on the Kurdish people.
