Objective of Turkish occupation attacks is to thwart political process, to keep terrorism in Syria

Al-Shahba Canton Council today issued a statement to the public condemning the brutal Turkish attacks on the Euphrates region in front of Ahres District Council.

The statement was read by the co-chair of Tal Rifat district, Redwan al-Rifai in front of Ahres District Council, in the presence of members of Ahres District Councils, the Syrian Democratic International Alliance, the Future Syria Party ,al-Shahba Relations Office and the Free Women's Union.

The text of the statement:

"The Turkish attacks on northern and eastern Syria, and its bombing of Kobanî and Girê Spî cities coincided with international efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis. These attacks and threats escalated with the battle to defeat terrorism campaign led by SDF to eliminate IS in the last stronghold in Deir ez-Zor  eastern countryside, where these attempts are aimed at thwarting the political process and maintaining terrorism in Syria.

Turkey has stepped up its attacks against north of  Syrian after the threats of its president, Erdogan, the fascist, which came after the quartet meeting in Istanbul and the heads of Russia, France, Germany and Turkey, targeting the villages of Kobanî and Girê Spî and resulted in the death and wounding of a number of them and inflicted damage to their property.

The continuous occupation of the Turkish state and its mercenaries to the Syrian north in al-Bab, Jarablos, Azzaz, Idlib and Afrin, and the brutal and inhumane violations committed against civilians and women, looting their property, cutting off olive trees and selling them in Azzaz and Idlib, making a demographic change, displacing their indigenous inhabitants, destroying human heritage and destroying archaeological sites and plundering them in the eyes of the world and nations and the United States, this deadly silence prompted Erdogan and encouraged him to bomb the areas of east Euphrates to destabilize its security and cover up its crimes in those areas.

SDF fought terrorism on behalf of the whole world and is about to destroy its last strongholds in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor and the Turkish state bombing of Kobanî and Girê Spî is an attempt to stop this campaign and to prevent the elimination of IS because it is the supporting and sponsoring to him and to all terrorism in Syria and the Middle East. We call upon the international community and the United Nations to stand up for its international responsibility to maintain international peace and security by repressing the Turkish state attacks on the northern areas of Syria, we also call upon the International Coalition to take a firm stand against the Turkish attacks which aimed at maintaining and re-energizing IS mercenaries.
