1ST conference’s final statement of AA universities in North, East Syria

The first conference of the Autonomous Administration’s universities of North and East Syria was launched on Friday with the participation of administrators, students, academics, intellectuals and universities’ professors. The conference continued for two consecutive days.

During the conference, discussions were held on methods to develop the universities in Rojava in addition to proposals to strengthen relations between the universities of Başûr (South Kurdistan) and the universities of Rojava.

The conference was also noted that Afrin University is considered the first university that was opened in Rojava and stopped teaching because of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries’ attack on Afrin canton on the 18th of March.

On Saturday, in the conclusion of the conference, the final statement of the conference issued, and it included,

“On October 19 and 20, the first conference of the Autonomous Administration’s universities of North and East Syria was held under the motto “The University Leads to Reach the Truth and the Identity of the Society.” The conference was held at a historic time when our revolution continues as a condition for the settlement of the work of the universities and academies. It was a bit difficult. In the last three years of the revolution, Afrin University, Rojava University and then Kobanî University were opened. In addition to that, dozens of training academies opened to raise-awareness and train the society.

In the outcomes of the experience of years, there was great work and effort, but in the field of higher and academic teaching, there were shortcomings. These shortcomings emerged among the regions so we found that we need higher training. This need was not for the universities and academies to become similar, but in order to reach a democratic and high-level administration with the participation of women and students, and to reach our universities to democracy.

On this basis, the conference started reading the universities’ reports, and their training work was evaluated on the draft of Higher Education’s Administration with the participation of delegates, teachers, students and academics of the three universities. They have discussed for two days, the ways of developing the universities in addition to reading the draft of the general administration and the rules of procedure of the universities and assessing the students’ levels and the Women Council draft.

The participant delegates in the conference showed the will to implement the democratic nation’s project in order to find a common formula for the universities of North and East Syria. Once again, we confirm that the participants showed the power structure of each university or academy in North and East Syria.
