Al-Raqqa preparing to celebrate its first anniversary of liberation

The Culture and Art Committee of al-Raqqa's Civil Council is preparing to participate in the celebration of the first anniversary of the liberation of al-Raqqa from IS mercenaries.

The committee teams are intensifying their training from "theatrical and lyrical performances" of the heritage of al-Raqqa and poetry evenings, which will be given by poets from al-Raqqa, in cooperation with the Culture team of al-Tabqa for adults which will presents lyrical performances of al-Raqqa heritage.

As for the training received by the Culture Band, the head of the Culture and Art Committee of al-Raqqa Civil Council Abdul Ghafor al-Khalaf said "We are training the children on some heritage songs and theatrical performances, in addition to the heritage band of al-Raqqa which consists of musicians on the Rababa, al-Daf and the singer."

"The residents of al-Raqqa will celebrate in the place which was the capital of terrorism and prove to them that al-Raqqa is the land of heritage and the land of joy and freedom," he said.

"We are training the children in al-Raqqa for 10 days to participate in the anniversary of the liberation of al-Raqqa, in addition to the seven-member of al-Tabqa for adults and 14 children," Shadi Zubaidi, head of the singing office in al-Tabqa said.

The committee overseeing the ceremony said they would announce the place and date of the ceremony soon.

Today, 17 October marks the first anniversary of the liberation of the city of al-Raqqa from IS mercenaries, which officially declared its liberation by the Syrian Democratic Forces on 20 October 2017.
