Battle to defeat terrorism advances, inflicted losses to mercenaries- UPDATED

The media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) disclosed the outcome of the clashes in the battle to defeat terrorism during the last 24 hours, assuring their advance in several axes and inflicting IS mercenaries with vast losses in the number and equipment.

The statement that was published by SDF‘s media center on their official website included,

1- Baguz axis: Our fighters attacked the points and concentrations of IS terrorists, and fierce clashes broke out and resulted in killing a number of the mercenaries as 3 bodies of them were kept at the hands of our fighters. In the result of the clashes, our fighters managed to progress 1 km and set up other 6 points.

The terrorists attempted to launch a counter-attack, but our fighters repelled them. The Coalition’s artillery also participated in bombarding the terrorists’ sites and confrontations, but we could not know the number of their killed and the losses inflicted to them.

On the other hand, our fighters continued progressing and they managed to install other 3 points. They also seized a mortar cannon of 120 mm caliber.

The terrorists launched an attack with machine guns and snipers on our fighters’ sites, but they repelled it and managed to pass across the areas controlled by the terrorists after they fled.

2- Hejin axis: Our fighters advanced a distance of 300 meters and set up 6 points in the result of the clashes they were engaged in against IS mercenaries that led to killing a number of them. Our forces also were able to land a drone and blast three mines that were in one of the points controlled by our fighters.

In addition, our fighters closed a trenched used to be used by the terrorists in their transformations and where they used it to be fortified in.

In the evening hours, our fighters launched an attack on IS terrorists’ sites and very strong clashes erupted, in which the mercenaries used all kinds of heavy weapons among them the snipers. In the clashes, a number of terrorists were killed and our fighters managed to advance and install two points.

Furthermore, the Alliance’s warplanes carried out several aerial raids on the terrorists’ sites and confrontations.

The clashes’ outcome:

The points installed: 17 points.

The terrorists’ killed: 21 killed and 3 bodies of them were kept the fighters hands.

The strikes of the Alliance’s aircrafts: 9 strikes.

The terrorists’ losses: A drone, a mortar cannon and 3 headquarters in which the mercenaries used to be fortified were destroyed.

The weapons seized by our fighters: A mortar cannon of 120 mm caliber and 2 RBGs.

The mines blasted: 5 mines.
