Jurists: Isolation imposed on Ocalan contrary to human rights charters

Since July 27, 2011, the Turkish authorities have prevented Ocalan's lawyer from visiting Imrali prison. The last visit to Imrali was the visit of Ocalan's brother, Muhammad Ocalan, on September 11, 2016. Since then, there has been no information about Ocalan's condition. In addition to the strict isolation imposed by the Turkish authorities.

The severe isolation of Ocalan in his prison has aroused resentment and condemnation of a number of jurists, who have stressed that this isolation is contrary to all international laws and rights.

'The goal is to undermine the will of the Kurdish people'

Lawyer Mohammed Jamil denounced the Turkish authorities' isolation against Ocalan and said, "Turkey's isolation against Ocalan is contrary to international laws and human rights charters, as well as the laws and rights followed in Turkey."

" Jamil referred to the abuses that Ocalan is facing in prison, he said “From the point of view of political rights, Ocalan is the leader of a people and has the right to struggle for the rights of his people." 7 years ago, Ocalan's lawyers were prevented from visiting their client in prison,he added, "We appeal to all human rights institutions and organizations to break their silence about these illegal measures."

Lawyer Mohammed Jamil also pointed out that the dominant state seeks, by posing the isolation on Ocalan, to undermine the will of the Kurdish people, "They believe that by imposing isolation they will break the will of Ocalan and thus they will undermine the will of the Kurdish people and the Kurdish fighters and strugglers. They will not succeed in breaking the will of Ocalan or the will of the Kurdish people, and the history of the resistance has confirmed this fact dozens of times and we are ready to perform all the tasks in order to make this struggle win which started by Ocaln.

The isolation imposed on Ocalan is contrary to all human rights constitutions

The jurist Torfa Mestu said," The isolation of Ocalan was described as an action aimed at human rights laws, as Ocalan defends the rights of oppressed peoples against the dominant regimes that perpetuate their power by oppressing people, this is why the dominant powers have imposed a strict isolation on Ocalan."

“Ocalan's ideas are embodied in Rojava”

Torfa Mestu pointed out that Ocalan is fighting for all the oppressed peoples, and that the results of Ocalan's ideas are embodied pratically in Rojava, she said," we are the Arab, Kurdish, Armenian and Syriac peoples, and all the other peoples struggle and live together, and this is the essence of the Ocalan project," referring to the fact that Ocalan was fighting for all oppressed peoples. The forces that do not want the oppressed people to have their rights, impose isolation on Ocalan.

“Women have a major responsibility in the fight against isolation”

Torfa Mestu said women are the most affected by the isolation imposed on Ocalan, "Because what women have reached today and are able to claim their rights is thanks to the ideas of Ocalan." As a result of Ocalan's ideas, Rojava Revolution is now called the Women's Revolution. "It is our responsibility to fight against isolation. Women must struggle at home, in the street, in the workplace, in all fields to condemn isolation, defend Ocalan's ideas and apply them to practical life."
