Free Media Union meets media professionals in al-Raqqa

The Free Media Union held on Monday the first meeting in coordination with al-Raqqa Civil Council for all the media outlets working in al- Raqqa city in order to unite the work and to be introduced to the importance of the Union.

The meeting was held in the meetings hall in al- Raqqa city, where the media professionals from al-Raqqa area participated in the event; Hawar news agency, Ronahi TV, Youth Media, al-Raqqa Civil Council’s media, Bissan Radio, Sawt al-Shebab Radio and al-Raqqa Radio in addition to SDF and the Internal Security Forces’ media professionals.

The meeting began with holding a minute of silence. After that, the co-chair of the Free Media Union Avin Yousef read the rules of procedure of the Free Media Union and touched upon the objectives of the Union and the duties assigned to the media professionals in the sensitive stage witnessed in the area at the moment.

Avin said, "We held a meeting for all media institutions with the aim of coordinating among the media institutions and discussing the role of the media in building the society that was oppressed by IS mercenaries."

While the co-chair of the Free Media Union Sipan Jan said, "With the start of Rojava Revolution, the institutions were opened and the number of media professionals increased, so the Free Media Union was a must to be formed as an institution in order to protect the media professionals and defend the freedom of expression within the law in the form of the document of the social contract of North Syria administrations.

During the meeting, discussions were held about the media work in al-Raqqa city in addition to discussing the problems that the media professionals in al-Raqqa face.

Furthermore, questions focused on the journalistic work in general, the conditions for joining the union and the relationship between the social institutions and media institutions.
