3rd Lawyers Union's conference launched in al-Jazeera

al-Jazeera Lawyers Union held its 3rd conference on Saturday under the slogan "Protecting the Social Gains and Values Guarantees Building a Decentralized and Democratic Syria" at the Workers’ Union hall in Rumailan town of Qamishlo canton of al-Jazeera region with the participation of 200 members in al-Jazeera region, the representatives of the Union from Afrin, the Euphrates and a number of areas in the north of Syria in addition to guests, including the representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA), the co-chair of the Executive Body of TEV-DEM Gharib Hassou, the co-chair of the Syria’s Democratic Council (MSD) Amina Omar and representatives of Kongra Star and the civil institutions.

The conference's activities started by holding a minute of silence. Then, the member of the conference's preparatory committee Shahin Lali welcomed the participants and the guests and congratulated the attendees on holding the 3rd conference.

Then, Shahin spoke about the Lawyers Union's tasks in al-Jazeera and its aims and he said, "The Union seeks to build free, moral and political society which believes in the peoples’ fraternity and the co-existence among the components of the area and applies the equality between the two genders towards building a democratic and decentralized Syria.”

Lali noted that the conference is working to establish the Lawyers Union in north and east of Syria within this conference.

Then, many speeches were delivered by the co-chair of the Executive Council of MSD Ilham Ahmed, the co-chair of the Executive Body of TEV-DEM Gharib Hesso, Kongra Star's Coordination's member Dalia Hennan and the co-chair of the Tourism and Antiquities Body Hussein al-Ali.

The speeches touched upon the last developments witnessed by the military and political arena in Syria and added, "The external interventions that occur in the societies are only cases of lack of rights. Any attack on any people is considered a violation against their rights."

The speeches noted that Idlib file has become the talk of the hour and turned into a hot area where negotiations among the guarantors take place to avoid happening a military operation, and continued, "The issue of Idlib has been complex. There are differences among the parties of the conflict; the Syrian regime seeks to control the entire Syrian territory, the armed forces that got out of the Eastern al-Gauta, al-Qalmoun and southern Syria which refused reconciliation refuse to surrender to the regime, and Hayet Tahrir al-Sham and the factions that were present in Idlib and supported directly by Turkey whom Turkey seeks to protect them through holding negotiations with Russia, Iran and the Syrian regime.”

The speeches noted that the violations against Afrin people came in the framework of the genocide committed against the Kurdish people and added, "Afrin Kurdish city has embraced large numbers of displaced Syrians who have fled the conflict in Syria over the past years and it was the safe haven which has been the main source of concern for the people of Afrin, but the Turkish occupation killed and displaced thousands of civilians in Afrin, and they are now living in tents waiting to return back to their homes again.”

The speeches explained that the historical, cultural and social sites in Afrin were destroyed and exposed to destruction and added, "There are mass kidnapping cases of people in Afrin, along with looting and thieving their properties."
