Pavement work phenomenon is problem waiting for solution

The owners of the shops in al-Derbasia district exploit the pavement and hold it, where they spend their goods on it, and this impede the passage of passersby so they are forced to use the street dedicated to cars, which in turn increases the likelihood of accidents.

The sidewalks are usually reserved for citizens to walk on, but the situation is now changing in al-Derbasia district, especially in the markets, where the sidewalks are also part of the shops, all because of the lack of strict laws by the People's Municipality to curb this phenomenon.

But what is surprising to the citizens is the decision of the municipality, which allowed the use of half of the sidewalk by the owners of shops, although the sidewalks were allocated to passersby, as its width does not exceed two meters.

"We do not want to come to the market because there is no place to walk, the People's Municipality has not found a solution but only resorted to their violation."

The citizen Hamid Ibrahim explained "We ask the People's Municipality to find a solution for the sellers not to use the sidewalks because we do not see a place on the sidewalk to pass on it, because the sidewalks have become a market on its own, we demand of the People's Municipality to find a solution for those sellers and do not use this sidewalk 

While the shop owners are fond of using sidewalks to their small shops, which citizens see as unjustified to take such a step.

The sellers of vegetables noted that they use the sidewalks with the consent of the municipality.

In an interview with the co-chair of the People's Municipality in al-Derbasia district, Mohammed Ali, he explained that the problem of using the sidewalks is an old problem for the people of the district. "We as the People's Municipality are working to control the violations in this context."

The question is whether this problem will remain in wait until the appropriate solutions are found.
