YBŞ commemorated massacre, promised to continue defense

On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the massacre committed by IS mercenaries against the Yazidi people in Şengal, the General Command of the Şengal Resistance Forces issued a written statement. The command described YBŞ-YJŞ forces which were found in the period of IS mercenaries as the forces that depend basically on democracy in Iraq.

The statement included,

"YBŞ - YJŞ are forces that were found in the period of the massacre committed by IS mercenaries, that is why they have a great historical position. They are the forces that struggle for the independence of Şengal on one hand and they form the basis of the freedom of the democratic Iraq on the other hand. The Yazidi people have had the will and the power to defend themselves. This people went through the massacre of genocide which is a disgrace in the history of humanity. We as Şengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) and Şengal Women Units (YJŞ) and to prevent the recurrence of such massacres will continue to follow the line of redemption, and we will fight until the last drop of our blood in the face of all the backward reactionary mentalities. To prevent repeating these pains and suffering, we will seek to build the unity of the Yazidi people."

The statement pointed to IS defeat in al-Raqqa and Al Mosul, warning that the danger and threat of IS are still continuing against the liberated areas.

The statement also said, "The uprising and the demonstrations of the people continue because of the poor economic situation and the violations in Iraq on one hand, as well as the continued danger of IS on the area on the other hand. In a situation of crisis and turbulence like this, we as YBŞ and YJŞ are ready to defend our people.

The statement called on the foreign forces to resort to dialogue and continued, "Now, even if the security problems ended for our people, the international forces must recognize the massacres committed against our people in Şengal as genocide because the stage that we are going through needs political steps. For the security of our areas and the interests of our people, we appeal to all forces abroad to resort to dialogue."

The General Command of the Şengal Resistance Forces concluded the statement saying, "We commemorate our martyrs like the martyrs Bexwedan, Nujian and hundreds of our young strugglers, heroes and martyrs with all respect and appreciation. We pledge to continue the struggle until we build a democratic Iraq, a free life and achieve victory."
