Normal life returned... How were sleeper cells eliminated in al-Raqqa?

The emergency state was declared on 23 June, after the reveal of sleeper cells of ISIS in al-Raqqa city, where the forces decided to ban roaming in order to protect the safety of civilians, the emergency state ended three days after its announcement after the sleeping cells were eliminated by the Internal Security Forces and Syrian Democratic Forces.

ANHA correspondents met with the Internal Security Forces command in the city, and they got more information about what happened in the city.

The purpose of the emergency state declaration and the curfew was to campaign against sleeping cells of ISIS, where SDF and Internal Security Forces organized a campaign against cells.

The campaign eliminated people who provided the sleeping cells with money, weapons and explosives to carry out suicide attacks.

More than 4100 fighters participated in the campaign

The participants in the operation which targeting ISIS mercenaries in al-Raqqa city were 3000 fighters from Syrian Democratic Forces and 1000 fighters from the Internal Security Forces and 150 fighters from the special forces of the Internal Security in al-Raqqa city, the participation of more than 4100 fighters to the campaign for the safety of civilians and the security of the city.

Where the forces were equipped on the basis of any clash between the security forces and the cells of ISIS who abused the civilians and use them as human shields.

Campaign results

The combing operation of the Internal Security Forces and Syrian Democratic Forces began on 23 June at 04:30, during which the forces arrested 140 mercenaries, during the campaign, the forces managed to control various weapons, bombs, and modern electronic equipment.

During an interview with Hawar news agency with the leader of the Internal Security Forces of al-Raqqa city Muhammad Ali Aliawi on the current situation of al-Raqqa city, he said, "The security situation returned to al-Raqqa city completely after our forces targeted all the cells in the city, "after the end of the curfew normal life has returned to the city again."

Alawi said that the campaign of security forces in al-Raqqa city comes after appealing to the people of the city to clean the city from the cells of IS mercenaries, those who cause chaos and killing of innocent civilians.

The leader appealed to al-Raqqa people and said, "We hope our parents in al-Raqqa city to communicate with the Internal Security Forces in al-Raqqa city, in the event of any abnormal situation in the city."
