Bahoz Ardal: YPG is not branch of PKK

Saudi Arabia Okaz newspaper held a lengthy interview with the commander of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) Bahoz Ardal as it dealt with many issues related to the party and the war against the Turkish army.

During his speech, Bahoz stressed that the PKK's consideration of the situation in the area is based on the fact that all attempts to solve the problems of the Middle East by war or blood and other projects that have been experienced on the area proved their failure. Therefore, they believe that the radical solution to all the problems of the area lies in a system that ensures the co-existence of all the peoples, and this solution is based on the will of peoples and co-existence.

Bahoz Ardal stressed that there is no opportunity for the political work in Turkey, and he pointed to the arrest of dozens of Kurdish parliamentarians who were working under the umbrella of Turkish law, including Salah Dimirtash, the former co-chair of the Democratic Peoples’ Party (HDP).

Bahoz Ardal explained, "If PKK was not existed, there would be no talk about the Kurdish Cause. It is the party that made the Kurdish Cause the priority of the Turkish state and it is the reunification of the Kurdish people."

Bahoz Ardal denied that YPG is a branch of the PKK, and he said "YPG is not a branch of the Workers' Party."

Bahoz Ardal also said, "Fighting is ongoing in the mountains of Kurdistan against the Turkish army, there are fierce battles between us, and these battles for us are essential, and therefore we cannot leave this arena to be busy with the Syrian arena ... our main battle is against the Turkish army, this is announced."

Bahoz Ardal noted that the solution in Syria is political saying, "There must be a political solution that goes beyond the dictatorial and exclusionary regime. We do not want Syria to be the arena for filtering international and regional accounts. The dictatorial policies of the Baath have brought Syria to this point.”

Regarding the situations in Manbij, Ardal said, "The situation in Manbij cannot be separated from the other areas. The reason is that all the international forces are present on Syrian land and all the interests are intertwined. Therefore, Turkey's entry into Manbij is related to the general situation in Syria.”

At the end of his speech on the Turkish elections, he noted that they are following the Turkish developments at the political level as PKK is an influential party in the Turkish political situation, expressing his respect and support for the decision of the Democratic Peoples’ Party in the elections.

The interview ended with a question of whether there was an escalation against Turkey, and the commander of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) Bahoz Ardal responded, "Of course, we are at war state against the Turkish army and the escalation is coming in the next days, and we can say that we are heading towards a hot summer with Turkey."
