The Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal al-Miqdad said that the withdrawal or the maintenance of the troops stationed in the Syrian territories at the invitation of the government is a matter that concerns the Syrian government alone, and this is not up for debate.

The announcement of the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Syrian regime came in response to Russia's statements about the withdrawal of all the foreign forces from Syria including Iran, and the start of the political process. Al-Miqdad said, "The Syrian government has called on allied and friendly forces to help it in the battle against terrorism, and among these forces are Russian and Iranian forces, Iranian experts and Hezbollah. All these parties are concerned with the battle against terrorism, and they do not violate the sovereignty and inviolability of the Syrian territories. They work with complete coordination with the Syrian government in the battle on terrorism."

The Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday during a meeting held with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Sochi that it is necessary to withdraw all the foreign troops from Syria with the activation of the political process.
